History
The Company has been in existence since 2003, although the principals have been in the mechanical business together since 1973. WSM is actually a re-creation of a company by a similar name that was started in 1985, Westates Mechanical Contractors, Inc. William "Bill" Bird originally started Westates in 1985 with Dan Loeffler joining in 1986. In 1994, the original Westates merged with the Scott Company with Bill and Dan becoming key members of the construction management team. In 2003, Bill Bird left The Scott Company and restarted the current Westates Mechanical, Inc. as a standalone company with Dan serving as its current President/CEO. Nigel Cowan, Vice President of Operation joined the business in 2004 and became an owner in 2008.
The Company's success can be largely attributed to its construction team with over 50 years experience in mechanical contracting. They have the ability to provide in-house estimating and design for plumbing, HVAC and fire sprinkler installations and operates with the most current estimating, CAD and accounting software programs available. The Company has a high standard of record keeping, maintaining all job cost records, scheduling, billing, change order estimates, request for information (RFI) and submittal data. Their field superintendents maintain daily construction reports and handle on-site safety issues, including Weekly Tailgate Meetings, to insure all requirements related to safety on the project are met.
